Kiari skipped through the main hall, hair bouncing lightly and hat threatening to fall from her head. Staying to the lighter side of the hallway, the light purple jewel set into her blue, shoelace necklace. Her eyes were searching for anything fun. She had been bored ever since Yaz had lightened her spirits, nothing was fun enough, not even her ghetto room with the neon colors. Scoffing lightly to herself she found a large door. Opening it, revealed a large staircase and she escourted herself towards the top.
The stairs went on forever and she nearly decided to give up, but she was having to much fun. Lifting her hand and letting a transed look fall over herself, she mimicked sleeping beauty following the green glow until she fould the spindle to prick her finger on. "The light...So pretty..." She was acting on her own, enjoying every step higher that she rose.

Nicara trotted slowly through the main halls. She didn't want anyone to think that she (of all people) cared so much as to tend to an urgent situation as this one. After a few trips through the castle while sticking to the darker side of the hallway, Nicara finally managed to find what she had been searching for: the staircase which would lead to the Sentinel Spires. This is it... I have found it!
But she had discovered something else... or rather someone else, who was blocking her way up the spiral stair case. "Err..." Nicara (for some odd reason) didn't feel the need to push or mull the child to accend to the tower, but either way, she had to get up there some how. "... Could you, like, move?" Nicara asked Kiari with what little politeness she could muster.

Kiari stayed in her drowzy transe, following the make-believe emerald light up the spiral staircase. "So pretty," she whispered, then giggled ruining the wonderful acting she had been keeping up. That and there was also the fact that someone behind her was being rude in the fact that patience wasn't an obvious virtue in their life. She stopped abruptly and spun around, lifting a finger to jab at whoever it was's nose.
"Look it here. I'm having fun. Now you can have fun with me or wait patiently. I am currently following a strange green light up the stairs and you can't see it because you're being poopy. Okay?" With a cheecky smile, Kiari turned and resumed her slow pace, leaving the annoyance behind.

Nicara cocked an eyebrow at the young girl, who appeared, not exactly hostile, but more... oddly hyperactive? The Red jewel couldn't think of just a single word to describe Kiari. In one swifty motion, Nicara pushed Kiari's jabbing finger off of her nose. Her purple eyes slanted slightly, staring at the back of the Purple Dusk's head, as the girl continued her fun overture, following the mysterious "green light."
What green light? Nicara asked herself subconsiously, waiting not-so patiently for Kiari to make her way up the curving stairway. She stepped closely behind the girl, seething at the slowness of her pace. Great... just great. she said sarcastically. This is going to take forever...

Zayreih silently closed the door behind him, trying not to let it creak. Once he achieved to do so, he collapsed against the wall, exhausted physically and mentally. I wonder if there's another way to get outside... he wondered, wanting to get back to his dorm and sleep. Unfortunately, with Daxx prowling the halls behind him, this was as likely as finding a candy stand in the forest. Sighing, he lifted himself off the wall, and finally noticed his surroundings.
Standing several steps up a dark, endless stairway-- the only thing in the room-- stood Nicara, looking as impatient as ever. "Hey, what-" Zayreih began, but ended his question when he saw the person ahead of her-- the blonde girl, Kiari. What the heck are they doing in the same room for? was his first thought. His second thought was to turn around and leave. He didn't think he could stand any conversations with these two. "You gave me death!!" "Leave me alone!" And with Nicara's way of acting, the blonde was bound to go off on some crying spree again. Yet oddly enough, Kiari looked nothing at all like she did before. For one, her eyes weren't glowing with tears, but with ammusement. Even her clothes added to the more cheerful expression on her face, and the pink streaks in her hair made it look less dank.
Zayreih stayed rooted to the spot, unsure of his next move. He'd have to be crazy to go back out into the corridor, where Daxx would be on his tail to slice him up in no time. Oh well, he thought, taking a few steps closer to the stairs. Mental abuse doesn't even come close to physical abuse... He'd be the one to know.

Nicara cocked an eyebrow at the sight of Zayreih. "And what, may I ask, are you doing here?" She crossed her arms, unconciously tapping her foot. Without waiting for a response, the red jewel, flashed her eyes at Kiari, who was apparently enjoying herself. Nicara took a breath, seething silently, as she leaned against the stone walls, waiting for this girl to move. Can a person possibly go any slower?
She peered at Zayreih, who seemed a bit on the slightly indignant side. Although she highly doubted he would have a reasonable ideal, Nicara decided to take a risk... she wanted to get up to the spire! Nicara's orbs narrowed on Kiari, before turning back to the Sapphire, whispering, "Do you know, by any random chance, how to get little girls out of your way?"

This last question from Nicara only brough Kiari into a fit out laughter. "I know how to move little girls. You just pick them up and set them elsewhere, but not today. Today we follow the green light all the wa- Hey where'd it go?" She glanced back up the staircase and her invisible green light had vanished from her view completely. Which a light shrug, she turned and pushed her way back down the stairs.

What. The. Fell. Nicara thought, eyes narrowing once again, as the young blond scampered down the hall. Strange child. Her gaze re-settled on the stair well, as she placed a hand on the railing. There were so many things she needed to figure out and so many more questions that needed answering.
At that moment, she remembered Zayreih who had apparently failed to answer her queries earlier. Very talkative today, isn't he? Leaning back to look at the boy, she tilted her head to the side. "Are you coming or not?" Nicara tapped her foot impatiently, waiting for a reply. "Well?"

Zayreih stared after Kiari, mesmorized, a large itch whacking at his head. She really doesn't remember me, does she? He reached out to grab her sleeve as she skipped out the door, but was too late and only came back with a handful of air. Why was she always running from him? Running from everything? Was the truth really that horrible that she had to make up her own reality? No longer paying attention to Nicara, he dashed out the door in a panic, halting at the intersection right in front of him. Zayreih rotated himself around to look in both directions, but saw not a single shard of her existence.
"Dammit!" he yelled, raking his fingers through his blonde hair and sinking against the wall opposite the double doors. It was always like this. The one thing he had ever cared about-- her-- and it was always just an inch out of his grip. Why had I even thought she'd know who I was? I've only just realized... Yet it seemed like he'd known for forever. "Uggghh!" Zayreih continued to pull at his hair, sliding down the wall into a crouch. This was excrutiating. Finally, after 10 years of watching and waiting, she was no longer outside of his cage. They were here together, and for what? For her to be able to hear his cries and run from them even more.
Ever since the first day he saw Kiari in Fell, a useless bit of hope had planted itself inside him. She had the same eyes, the same hair... that same look of complete and utter misery cooped up within her. Could she really be the same person? That question had run its course so many times through his head it could win the Olympics. And now it could finally stop. However, it looked like that had only been the beginning of his problems... What stood between them now was a lot more painful to accept than the unknown: trust.

Nicara's eyebrows slanted. What's his problem? she asked herself, crossing her arms, as she leaned against the darker side of the hallway. This was strange. Could Nicara's day get any more derranged? First, some random blond had been running around, claiming to be following an eerie green light that technically didn't exist. Then, the normally calm Zayreih had to go ballistic on her, by chasing this child, damning the fact that he couldn't catch her. What the Fell is going on with... Fell?!
Oh well. Either way, Nicara had two choices; to A) Finish what she had come here to do and go up to the spires or B) to go see what was up with Zayreih. She constantly told herself that she couldn't care less about the guy and his problems... although Jiminy Cricket wasn't shutting up this time.
The Red looked longingly at the stairwell for a few moments. Ugh. Why am I being so nice? She reluctantly threw her glance over to where Zayreih was sulking. Here goes nothing. Nicara's purple eyes scanned the boy, as if searching for an answer within what little evidence she had. She sighed mentally, unsure about what to do. "What's that girl's problem, anyway?" Nicara started, "I mean, seriously! What was she thinking?"

Zayreih lifted his head to meet Nicara's gaze. He had nearly forgotten she was there, he was so fed up within himself. Not trusting himself to speak an understandable language in response to her question, he shrugged his shoulders and slowly dragged himself to his feet. Why even bother to try to gain Kiari's trust? She would never believe him if he told her, and even if she did, what of it? What good would it do? She wouldn't care; she would hate him all the same. Maybe just leaving it as it is would be for the best. He knows who she is to him; if she doesn't care to accept it, so be it.
With a slightly better outlook on things, Zayreih pushed himself off the wall and walked over to Nicara. "What were you going up there for?" he asked in a voice that betrayed how he felt, pointing his hand at the darker-than-night staircase.

Zayreih seemed less than willing to talk about his problems. Not that I care, Nicara thought gloomily. She looked back at the heavily shadowed staircase, wondering whether or not to press the guy about who the mysterious blonde was, or to just tell him her intentions and make her way up to the tower. Although she would never fully admit it, her intentions were still unclear as her past was. As foggy and murky as ever. She would never discover what her heart truly wanted-- not this way.
However, the dark mage pushed those doubtful feelings aside. "What do you think I'm doing?" Nicara asked, crossing her arms. She thought of a list of mocking, sarcastic comments she could make, but decided against it. What the Fell is wrong with me? Her eyes explored the hallway, never lacking its intensity. "I'm going up to the tower," she finally said, after a few stray moments of silence. "Just for the heck of it."
"I want to know what's up there," Nicara added, as not to sound completely stupid.

Zayreih dragged his feet to the base of the stairs, looking up at the dark, somewhat endless looking staircase. "Up... there...?" he asked Nicara, turning around to face her with eyebrows raised. Sure, the mystery of it all would make a lot of people curious, even himself a little, but Nicara? He may not know her all too well, but he knew enough to be pretty darn sure that nothing like that would spark her interest. Unless, of course, there was more to it.
"You're meaning to tell me that you actually care what's up there," Zayreih probed further in a flat voice, his emotionless, brown eyes boaring into her purple ones. Maybe if he tried satisfying his urge to get to know Nicara, it would help ease the painful stab in the heart he was receiving from his past. He knew that no matter how hard he would try to close that door behind him, it would only blow back open time and time again, pushing more hardships upon him. "Why?" His question hung in the air around them, the unanswered question to so many more things than just to what was at hand.

Silence. How was Nicara supposed to answer this? Was she curious? Yes. Should she be curious? Well, not really. According to the dark mage, this was going beyond all laws of Nicara's emotions and actions-- when did she ever feel the need to sate her curiousity? Never before. Why now? Something was wrong. She was changing. For better or for worse, Nicara would probably never know... Her purple eyes glanced at the staircase. "No reason."
"Nothing particular. I've heard that some strange things happened up there. Like some sort of shadow lurking in the darkness, toying with people's memories and worst nightmares." She smirked, brushing past Zayreih to the stairs. "So..." Nicara started, jerking her head towards her destination. "Are you coming? Or not?"

"Toying with people's memories and worst nightmares..." Zayreih backed ever so slightly away from the stair's mouth, a chill running down his spine. It was almost a sort of deja-vu feeling to him, like someone was reading his thoughts. Some idiot of a force kept bringing his mind back around to Kiari, right as he was trying to force them out. If this wasn't toying, he didn't want to know what awaited at the top of the tower. "You can go... I've had enough exercise for one day," he replied, still with no emotion in his voice or eyes. And really, he wasn't exactly lying to Nicara; he'd been running his ass off to get away from Daxx when he arrived here.
As Zayreih spun on his heel and retreated to the door, something pinched inside his head. He'd been so caught up in his own thoughts that it hadn't even occurred to him what was crossing Nicara's mind. Was she intending on heading up those stairs just to see if the rumors were true, or rather something more? She hadn't exactly answered his question... she'd only said what was up there, not why she felt compelled to go find it.
With his hand resting on the golden doorknob, Zayreih turned his head over his shoulders to ask her further. He hesitated to do so, though. He knew if she asked him the same thing, what was so crucial about his past to make him question it, that he'd be reluctant to answer as well. Instead he just stood there, eyes gazing at the ground, wondering whether he should speak up or just leave.

"Heh... Looks like you're having second thoughts, eh?" Nicara asked, now tapping her foot impatiently. Zayreih seemed to shirk away at the thought of exploring the tower. Nicara wondered why-- Perhaps this is a sensitive subject... She waited there for a few seconds, wondering what she was going to say in order to convince the Sapphire to come up with her. Nicara didn't have the faintest clue why she wanted the company so badly. She wasn't scared of what was up in that tower... or was she?
The mage narrowed her purple eyes slightly, straining with her thoughts-- she had the strongest urge to now storm up the spires by herself, leaving Zayreih in the dust. She didn't need someone to come along and babysit her! Nicara bore the Red stone, one of decent abilities and powers... she didn't need anyone! Grr... Why?! Her emotions were now toying with her logic, pecking at her thoughts every time she tried to tell herself something. What is wrong with me?!
Not wanting to show the other magic-user what frustration she was feeling, Nicara quickly turned towards the stairwell. "Hn. Decide when you're ready. Come up if you want. Or stay here. Whichever floats your boat. I really don't care." And with those last words, she started her journey up towards the tower, skipping two steps at a time.
